Okmulgee is a city in, and the county seat of, Okmulgee County, Oklahoma.
Recreational opportunities include Okmulgee Park and Dripping Springs Park, which offer RV and camping facilities. The parks also offer swimming, fishing, and boating opportunities through the adjacent Dripping Springs Lake, which has 18 miles of shoreline and 1,150 acres of water, and the separate Okmulgee Lake. Near Okmulgee is the Deep Fork National Wildlife Refuge.
Okmulgee holds events throughout the year. Other family-oriented festivals and special events occur on a monthly schedule throughout the year, including the OrangeFest, Harvest Spoon Chili Fest, Muscogee Creek Nation Festival, Eats and Beats, and the bi-annual Airfest.
Preston is an unincorporated community located in Okmulgee County.
Unrecognizable from the past, Preston was once a highly prosperous community, thriving mainly from the oil boom, as did many of the surrounding communities. Later on, as the oil industry quieted in Preston, it served as a station for restocking trains and running cattle trails, loading water from Frisco Lake.
It currently has two schools, three churches, a single gas station, feed store, a heating and air company, and a hair salon as well as a fire protection business.
Henryetta is a city in Okmulgee County.
Henryetta has two large annual rodeos, being the Jim Shoulders Spring Roundup Rodeo in June and the Living Legends Rodeo over Labor Day Weekend.
Just south of town is Nichols Park, developed between 1938 and 1941 by the Civilian Conservation Corps and the National Park Service, which is over 300 acres in size, and includes the 17 acre Nichols Lake offering fishing opportunities.
Jim Hall Lake, also known as Lake Henryetta, is 450 surface acres southeast of town. Amenities include boat ramps, docks, primitive campsites, picnic areas, and outdoor grills.
Lake Eufaula, Oklahoma's largest lake, is to the east of town.
Morris is a city in Okmulgee County.
Eagle Park, at 1001N North Hughes Avenue in Morris, includes both a playground and a walking trail. The town has the Morris Youth Sports Complex, which hosts Little League tournaments and other events.
Lake Eufaula, Oklahoma’s largest lake, is to the southeast and Deep Fork National Wildlife Refuge is to the southwest.
Beggs is a city in Okmulgee County.
Recreational opportunities include Old Beggs Lake, southeast of the town center, and the larger New Beggs Lake, almost directly east of the town center.
A city playground on Main Street was revitalized as Legacy Park in the 2019-2020 timeframe, complete with playground equipment, a pavilion, and picnic tables.
Beggs Fairgrounds and Round-Up Club Arena is a fairgrounds and rodeo arena, available for special events.
